OUR APPROACH

About Folk Herb

A grandmother’s teaching—that the earth can tend what ails us—sits next to a clinician’s warning: delay can kill. This guide holds both.

Whose knowledge

Cherokee and other Eastern woodland plant uses included here come from published ethnobotany and Appalachian household practice. Living protocol belongs to knowledge keepers. Nothing here is a ceremony, a tribal formula, or a substitute for speaking with an elder who holds that lineage.

What “research” means

Evidence labels should follow conservative readings of clinical literature and authoritative health sources. Traditional use is labeled traditional. Mixed or thin trials are labeled limited. Nothing is labeled a cure.

Food before foraging

Most people should begin with ordinary foods and cultivated teas. Medicinal mushrooms should be cultivated foods or commercial extracts. Wild gilled mushrooms are never a beginner project.
